Have you ever felt a gentle nudge on your heart—something you couldn’t explain, yet you knew it was from God?
That’s no coincidence. That’s a prompt.
The Lord God speaks to us in more ways than we often realize. And here’s the beautiful part: He doesn’t just speak—He wants us to hear Him.
But hearing requires stillness. It requires anticipation. It requires us to pause, listen, and stay spiritually alert.
As Romans 8:15 reminds us: “And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, ‘Abba, Father.’”
That’s right—the Holy Spirit is doing most of the talking, receiving from Jesus what Jesus has received from the Father. It’s a divine relay of love, direction, and truth.
So what’s our part?
We must be quickened.
Now, “quickened” might sound like an old-fashioned word, but it’s exactly what we need today. It means:
To be made faster, more alert, more sensitive
To spring to life
And that’s what the Holy Spirit does in us. He wakes us up. He sharpens our spiritual senses. He gives us the zeal to stay tuned in—and the courage to obey what we hear.
“But if the Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, He that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by His Spirit that dwelleth in you.” — Romans 8:11
When we are quickened, we don’t just hear God—we respond to Him. We call upon His name. We turn back to Him when we wander. We stay connected.
Psalm 80:18–19 puts it like this: “So shall we not go back from thee: Quicken thou us, and we will call upon thy name. Turn us again, O Lord God of hosts; cause thy face to shine, and we shall be saved.”
So today, don’t just wait for a voice from heaven. Tune your heart. Be still. Stay quickened. And when that gentle prompt comes—whether it’s to pray, to speak, to help, or to wait—obey it.
Because hearing God isn’t just for mystics or saints.
It’s for you. It’s for your good. And it starts with a heart that says, “I’m listening, Lord.”
Stay blessed,
